  • Sample collection, reception and processing.
  • Accurate labeling of samples and preparation of worksheets.
  • Culturing of bacteria including Neisseria gonorrhea and other pathogenic bacteria.
  • Develop research project proposals of urinary tract infections.
  • Preparation of bacteriologic media: MHA, CLED, SBA, MAC, SS, EMB and CCDA.
  • Isolation of bacteria from stool, wound and urine samples.
  • Bacterial colony description (morphology).
  • Gram staining and microscopy of urine, stool and swab samples.
  • Biochemical identification using VITEK2 and AP 12 kits for Neisseria gonorrhea and AP 20 Enteric bacteria.
  • Antimicrobial susceptibility tests: Disc diffusion, E-test, automated Microscan and VITEK 2.
  • DNA extraction of bacteria (E.coli, Enterococcus spp) and parasites (Echinococcus).
  • Conventional and real-time PCR for DNA amplification.

I have always wanted to further my studies but have not gotten capital to do the same. This training opportunity will give me a chance to gain the relevant professional skills and possibly be the best following my academic record.
